What makes these shingles hurricane proof?
GAF’s WindProven™ warranty covers your shingles with no maximum wind speed limitation — meaning they’re warranted no matter how hard the wind blows. No other wind warranty in the industry offers this level of protection.
What wind speed are they rated for?
Sun Coast’s Hurricane Proof Shingles use GAF Timberline® technology with LayerLock™ — a proprietary system that locks shingles together for maximum wind resistance. Combined with Class 4 impact resistance and Florida Building Code compliance, they’re specifically engineered to handle what Florida storms throw at them.
Are they different from regular shingles?
Yes significantly. Standard shingles are designed for general weather resistance. Hurricane Proof Shingles are engineered specifically for high wind events, impact from flying debris, and the extreme weather conditions Florida homeowners face every hurricane season.

How long does installation take?
Most residential installs are completed in one to two days depending on the size and complexity of your roof. Sun Coast’s crews are experienced and efficient — and they clean up completely before they leave.
Do I need to replace my whole roof?
To qualify for GAF’s WindProven™ warranty and the full benefits of Hurricane Proof Shingles, a full roof installation is required. However every situation is different — your free estimate will include a full assessment of your current roof.

What warranties are included?
Every Hurricane Proof Shingles install comes with three layers of protection — GAF’s President’s Club Limited Warranty with lifetime coverage, GAF’s WindProven™ Limited Wind Warranty with no wind speed limit, and Sun Coast’s own labor warranty covering 25 years on residential properties and 20 years on commercial.
Is the warranty transferable?
Yes. The GAF warranty is transferable once to the next homeowner at no cost — adding real value to your home if you ever decide to sell.
